After 10 years since it first opened, the Sidney S. McMath Library has experienced growth in usage and the need to accommodate expanded programs; especially in juvenile programing.  The expansion program called for a new juvenile stack space, program room, additional group study rooms and additional parking spaces. Interior modifications, new carpet and painting were also incorporated into the project to update the facility.
The new juvenile space is an addition to the south side of the existing building while the study rooms were added to the north. Each of these additions took advantage of existing window openings to connect these spaces. The existing geothermal mechanical system had enough capacity built-in to allow for these new additions. New LED site lighting and exterior building lights replaced the old type lamps to provide better light and reduce replacement maintenance on these fixtures. The Library remained in operation during the majority of the renovation work.
